Mazda Motor Corporation has announced the sales launch of the all-new Mazda Axela (known overseas as the new Mazda3) in the Japanese market. Mazda’s mainstay model has been fully redesigned and updated with a host of new features, including the ‘i-stop’ engine stop/start system. Sales commence today at all Mazda, Mazda Anfini and Autozam dealers nationwide. Manufacturer’s suggested retail prices (including sales tax) for the all-new Mazda Axela range from 1,660,000 to 2,678,000 yen. The target sales volume in the Japanese market is 2,000 units per month.
Since the Mazda Axela first debuted in October 2003 it has become a core model in Mazda’s lineup, selling over two million units worldwide and currently comprising over a third of its annual global sales. For the second generation Axela, the development team was determined to once again exceed customer expectations. As a result, the new model inherits and evolves Mazda’s highly acclaimed sporty performance and exterior styling. Additionally, it arrives with an outstanding interior with greater quality and functionality, and offers advanced environmental and safety features.
All 2.0-liter front-wheel-drive (FWD) models are equipped with i-stop, Mazda’s unique engine stop/start system, which uses combustion energy to restart the engine in just 0.35 seconds, about half the time of most other competing systems. The i-stop system also suppresses noise and vibration as the engine shuts down and restarts, ensuring that drivers experience a natural driving feel with no sense of discomfort. Prices for models with i-stop start from an affordable 1,890,000 yen (including sales tax).
The 2.0-liter FWD Axela with i-stop provides 15 percent better fuel economy than the previous model.*1 The 1.5-liter Axela models are newly equipped with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). This combination enables a sporty ride and top class fuel economy*2 of 18.4 kilometers per liter. All models in the Axela range qualify as Super-Ultra-Low Emission Vehicles (SU-LEV), achieving exhaust emissions that are at least 75 percent lower than the levels required by the Japanese government’s 2005 exhaust emissions standard. Additionally, six of the nine model grades qualify for Japan’s eco-car incentive program as well as tax reductions of 50 or 75 percent under the government’s eco-car tax reduction program.
Together with its superb environmental performance, the new Mazda Axela also boasts more spirited driving performance. Mazda’s engineers achieved notable weight reduction while efficiently increasing the vehicle’s body rigidity, and reworked the aerodynamics so that the new Axela provides enhanced handling and straight-line stability at high speeds. Drivers can enjoy substantially improved comfort and cabin quietness due to reduced road noise, engine vibration and wind noise.
The updated exterior design, which features a new version of Mazda’s hallmark five-point grille, carries forward the original model’s sporty impression and injects an added touch of dynamic and refined styling.

2010 FORD MUSTANG GT PREMIUM - Review

2010 FORD MUSTANG GT PREMIUM

Taking an iconic car like the Ford Mustang into the future while building upon its proud heritage is a job that Ford has been tackling with their legendary icon for 45 years. Over nine million Mustang owners have bought into the dream and become part of the legend that is Mustang. While the proven and successful formula of a rear-wheel-drive coupe remains the same, the collected knowledge and refinement gained in delivering the ride of choice for a young and vibrant America for over four decades is built into every 2010 Mustang.

The latest Mustang has evolved with the times while adhering to the sporty yet affordable equation that keeps the horse out in front, the driver at the reigns, and the view behind marked by the distance delivered in a way only a Mustang can. The 2010 Mustang takes the timeless formula of affordable performance from the past into the present and sets the bar high again for what will be a modern classic. The world has spoken as to what the icon that is Mustang is and should be to them. Ford has listened and has delivered a further refined and completely redesigned Mustang destined to become an instant classic.

Styling and Design
From its inception in 1964, the Mustang has been a purely American take on the world of sporting automobiles. The latest version in a proud line of pony cars pays homage to its heritage, yet incorporates modern styling touches that convey the essence of the Mustang formula without simply being a throwback. The all-new exterior styling begins out front. Changes to the headlamps and grille tie the redesigned front fenders together and move the eye onto the sculpted and powerdomed hood. The muscular look isn't just for show. The swept forward grille and domed hood are designed to enhance cooling airflow through the engine bay.

The sweeping beltline profile is punctuated by redesigned side view mirrors that accent the signature Mustang spear body detail. The fastback roofline flows down over the new rear fascia and sculpted decklid. The prominent rear center badge of the Mustang is punctuated by a set of sequential LED firing turn signals with vertical reverse lamps for a return to the classic three-lamp Mustang taillight design. This feature was first rolled out on Shelby Mustangs in the Sixties and has been reborn for the 2010 Mustang.

The redesigned front and rear fenders wrap skin tight around the new Mustang. Sculpted fender flares are a tribute to the Mustang's proud racing heritage, and serve as a perfect frame for a new lineup of larger diameter and wider aluminum wheels. Variations of the classic five-spoke theme of yesterday's muscle car wheels have been updated with modern design and manufacturing technology and lighter alloys. There are a total of seven new wheel choices for 2010, starting with 17x7-inch standard wheels for V6 Mustang, and moving up to a 18x8-inch for the V6 Pony Package and V8 GT. Optional bright machined aluminum or painted nickel aluminum 19x8.5-inch wheels are available on FORD Mustang GT Premium packages.

World Class Interior
The 2010 Ford Mustang interior folds the timeless muscle car design formula for success together with thoroughly modern manufacturing. The functional simplicity and beauty of a pair set of deep round gauges with distinctive chrome rings are the visual signature of the Mustang's all-new interior. Genuine brushed aluminum panels sit atop a seamless soft-touch thermoplastic olefin skin and lead out from the redesigned centerstack to precisely crafted dual vane air vents. The seats and armrests feature a softer material and improved stitching. Even what cannot be seen has brought improvement to the Mustang cabin experience. Sound deadening materials out of sight are integrated in such a way that road and wind noise are reduced, but the throaty growl of performance gets a chance to make its note more well heard.

Breathe In. Breathe Out.
This real music in the Mustang inspirational equation is produced by a 210-hp 4.0-liter V6 with 240 foot pounds of torque, or a 315-hp 4.6-liter V8 rated at 325 foot pounds of torque. Both engines are standard equipped with a five-speed manual, which includes an improved short-throw precision shifter for the V8, or an available five-speed automatic transmission. The V8 steps up in horsepower over previous version thanks to knowledge gained on the racetrack. A cold-air intake system adopted from Ford Racing Technology division helps ram more and denser air into the engine for in increase in power from a standstill right up until the 6,500 rpm redline. Engine management electronics of the award winning 4.6-liter, three-valve V8 have been recalibrated to take advantage of better breathing and bumped up redline. The Mustang also offers a dual-adaptive anti-knock system. While the 2010 Mustang engine will run great and kick out every bit of advertised horsepower on regular 87-octane gasoline, it will also know when to squeeze the tiger out with the higher octane premium gasoline it's added into the tank and fed to the engine. Both V6 and V8 engines breathe out through larger diameter exhaust tips for more of the legendary Mustang sound.

Safety Can Be Fun
Suspension tuning can make the difference not only between winning and losing the race, but maintaining a safe grasp on vehicle control. Steering and suspension upgrades for 2010 have taken cues from Ford Racing vehicles and the successful Bullitt edition Mustang. The entire suspension has been fine tuned to deliver a more entertaining driving experience. The balance between more controlled handling and comfortable ride is enhanced by the all-new AdvanceTrac® electronic stability control with traction control and anti-lock brake system. The system reduces engine torque and applies braking when it senses wheel slippage or excessive side-to-side vehicle motion. Traction control can be turned on and off on V6 equipped Mustang. V8 GT Mustang will feature a Sport Mode, which allows the driver to have a little more fun along with an increased measure of modern safety. The aggressive restyling of the Mustang reduces overall drag and reduces front end lift, which delivers increased steering feedback, vehicle control, and driver confidence at higher speeds. Four-wheel power disc brakes with 4-sensor, 4-channel anti-lock braking system (ABS) is standard equipment, and all Mustang models feature dual front airbags and driver-passenger side impact airbags.

Freedom of Choice
While the Mustang has always been about affordable performance, it has long stood as a symbol for personal freedom of choice. The 2010 Mustang stable begins with selecting a V6 or V8 engine, and continues with myriad choices and options beyond this first decision. The V-6 and V-8 Mustang share the aggressive and bounding swagger of the redesign, but each have unique and subtle differences to set them apart. Headlamps and turn signals have been integrated into one unit on both cars for a modern take on the 1970 Mustang. V6 equipped Mustang Premium models feature a set of fog lamps located on the lower fascia. While the V8 GT fog lamps are moved up into the grille but made smaller as a nod to the 1967-68 versions. Along with a coupe and convertible the 2010 Mustang is available with unique and innovative glass roof option.

Beyond the basics come the host of options and packages that carry on the Mustang tradition of a steed for every need. Tried and true muscle car performance and visual impact meet modern technology and engineering. A Red Candy Metallic with tinted clear coat is but one of many bold new exterior colors that harkens back to the untamed spirit of the Sixties and Seventies, while in the interior, 125 shades of driver controlled six-gauge cluster color customization effects are featured with My Color™ along with ambient interior lighting system on premium models. Mustang option packages drift well beyond the visual, with suspension upgrades to spring rates, shock damping, stabilizer bars, stiffness adding mechanical bite to outward appearances. From a V6 Pony Package right up to an asphalt-crunching V8 GT with available 3.73 Rear Axle package there is a 2010 Mustang waiting for every driver. Bringing the seemingly disparate worlds of steel and rubber together with telecommunications and digital entertainment is an improved version of the popular Ford SYNC®, which now offers 911 Assist™ and Vehicle Health reports along with hands free voice-activated operation of virtually all Bluetooth® enabled cell phones and most MP3 devices.

The 2010 Mustang is not only unquestionably more aggressive, but comes equipped with a level of modern refinement and race-bred performance engineering never before attained in an American muscle car. The first Mustang established the formula for the agile American muscle car. Each version of the Mustang carries on this lineage. The swagger and muscle that unapologetically says Mustang is a modern interpretation of the very essence of the best Motor City has to offer. Each new generation of Mustang pays homage to the proud heritage of automotive performance and slots itself into the legendary Mustang timeline. It's up to the driver to keep moving that Mustang legend into the future. The 2010 Mustang carries the 45-year tradition of the American muscle into the hearts and minds of the future, and will be built at the Ford Motor Company Auto Alliance International Plant in Flat Rock Michigan USA. Alfa Romeo 8C Spider Sports (1)

ALFA ROMEO 8C SPIDER

Alfa Romeo 8C Spider made its debut at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show. Like the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, the Gran Turismo which received resounding global praise, the new "discovery" will be produced in a limited edition run of 500.
Elaborated by the Centro Stile Alfa Romeo, the new car re-affirms the brand's excellence in this sector, as shown by some Spider's being regarded among the most beautiful cars in global automotive history. Cars such as the Giulietta Spider from the 50's or the legendary Duetto made famous by "The Graduate" from 1967 with a young Dustin Hoffman. Today, it's the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider's turn to take centre stage and project into the future the values of technology and emotion which belong to the Alfa Romeo legacy.
Obviously, the new vehicle inherits all the winning features of the Coupè version. Starting with the two "sport seats" setup and the fascinating exterior lines, which characterized by sculpted and finely designed bodywork, "dress" the automotive and mechanical excellence of the model.
In detail, the marked dynamics of the vehicle are highlighted by the horizontal groove "built" into the bonnet at wheel level. The oversize wheels and powerful "muscles" of the rear mudguard accentuate the personality and force of the model, without diminishing the elegance of those fluid lines. Instead they highlight the formal beauty of the singular external features: the "teardrop" fog lights set like a precious jewel in the front mudguard, the front Led lights, a synthesis of technology and rationality, and the essential door handle.
Furthermore, in the front we can find the characteristic Alfa Romeo stylings, with a new interpretaion of the "whiskers" and shield. Without forgetting, that this innovative range anticipates the elements and proportions of the future Alfa Romeo cars, always with complete respect for the historical legacy of the brand.
It's worth underlining that to reach these top levels of areo-dynamic efficiency, solutions which don't limit themselves to the design of the form have been adopted on the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider. All the surfaces and profiles of the uprights and windows, together with the form and positioning of the rear-view mirrors, have been optimized using computer models and tests in wind tunnels and real-life environments. As a result, air flows round the vehicle following it's natural path, unhampered by corners and irregularities. The end result is a negative LC (lift coefficient) which like competition vehicles, contributes to stability at high speeds.
But the peculiarity of this vehicle, is the hooded top fitted with electro-hydraulic automatic control (controllable via a button on the dashboard). The hooded top of the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider is composed of two overlapping sheets: the external one is made with a multi-thread textile which can withstand the elements, whilst the interior has high sound-proofing qualities. Furthermore, the hooded roof-top, available in various colours, has been perfected aesthetically, aerodynamically and for acoustic comfort. It has also been perfected from a functional point of view, with specially developed film-reels to render more agile, rapid and secure any explanations of the functioning.
In the interior, the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider guarantees a sophisticated environment, thanks to the vast use of composite materials in the dashboard and internal panels, as well as the use of anatomical seats, produced in carbon fibres, that can be adjusted according to the physical characteristics of the driver (up to now, a feature only available to racing cars). Furthermore, for maximum possible personalization of the interior, the client can chose between different environments and aesthetic solutions. All distinguishable by the particular attention to detail and artisan workmanship: from the contrasting stitches, colour tone and exclusive matchings. The bucket seats are upholstered in Frau flower leather (an exclusive and innovative treatment of the weave, in which the leather is bound to a natural fibre, creating a look of great visual impact).
In analogous fashion to the interior, the same care has been taken in realizing the exteriors: from the alloy wheels to the brake calipers, every detail can be chosen to your particular design, because every Alfa Romeo 8C Spider can only look similar to itself. An unmistakable car made to measure for the owner's personality. The unique and un-repeatable Alfa Romeo 8C Spider announces the pleasure of a sporty drive with full respect for the brand's legacy.

Alfa Romeo 8C Spider Sport (2)

Like in the best Alfa Romeo tradition, hidden under this pretty "dress" is the best of what's available in the field of mechanics and propulsions. Firstly, the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider has a rigid and light structure (the compact frame is made in steel for maximum torsion to guarantee a drive which is always precise and sure, whilst the body is in carbon fibre). We are dealing with a choice motivated by the need to reduce as much as possible the weight but also to optimize the centre of gravity for agility and drive-ability in the more demanding journeys.
Still under the banner of sophisticated technology, the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider adopts the new "8 cylinder mated to a 6-speed gearbox with 90°" and a capacity of 4691 cm3 which has been designed with one specific aim: guarantee extraordinary performances without relinquishing the fluidity of the gearshift or the ease of use in any driving context. Like so, a powerful and progressive propulsion is born with a top power of 450 CV at 7.000 rpm and a maximum torque of 7.500 rpm. This engine has been mated to a self-shifting 6-speed gearshift (with computerized selection of the gears via levers behind the steering-wheel), and a self-blocking differential unit.
As in the legendary Formula 1 vehicles from the 50's, the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider sports the Transaxle design which guarantees the best equilibrium in the partioning of weight. The propulsion is placed in the rear whilst the gearshift is placed behind along the differential and hydraulic motor unit. The Transaxle design foresees a tight connection between motor and gearshift, which is fitted with a self-blocking differential. The two groups are linked by a tubular element, at the interior of which rotates the transmission driving shaft: in this manner the load is distributed in an optimal manner between the front and rear suspension.
So much power can only be entrusted to an excellent braking system: the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider is fitted with carbo-ceramic Brembo (CCM), 380 mm in diameter on the front-wheels and 360 mm on the back-wheels. This solution guarantees a powerful brake action even in the most intense uses. The marked reduction in weight, in comparison to a traditional set-up, reduces the masses unsupported by the vehicle and so improves the dynamic performance and driving comfort.

Furthermore, the mono-block calipers guarantee maximum rigidity and minimal deformation, given the high loads generated by the pressure of the pistons on the brake-linings.
Therefore, the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider "declares itself Alfa" all the way, confirming control and driving pleasure with no compromises. Since always, gear comfort and dynamic performance are qualities specific to Alfa Romeo cars: in this case they have become veritable strong points. Thanks to for example, the suspensions which foresee a high wishbone suspension with brackets and uprights in forged aluminium, that act as a supplementary strut for alignment control.
Contributing also to the brilliant road control are specially developed 20" tyres to insure excellent performance, the tyres have a: 245/35 front-suspension and a rear-suspension of 285/35. Fitted on perforated rims in fluid moulded aluminium to ensure lightness and maximum brake ventilation efficiency. Lastly, the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider uses an evolved VDC Alfa Romeo traction and stability system, which ensures the driver feels at one with his car.
